LUKE Oliver has become the latest Tony Adams reject to resurrect his career at a higher league club.

The 21-year-old, who was given the elbow by Adams last summer, is set to complete his transfer to League Two champions Yeovil this week and complete a hat-trick of mistakes for the ex-Wycombe boss.

Oliver's elevation into League One comes after fellow Adams' rejects Darren Currie, now playing Championship football for Ipswich after a £250,000 move from Brighton, and Jermaine McSporrran playing League One football with Doncaster, were dumped only to move onto better things within the space of 12 months.

And Oliver admits part of him is hoping Adams reads about his move in the Sunday papers.

The defender thought his world had ended when he was given the push.

He said: "At the time I thought that was it. There are lots of young players who get released and never find a way back. I didn't have an agent or many contacts in the game and I thought I might never get another chance."

But Wanderers teammate and now assistant manager Keith Ryan put a word in for the lanky defender at Woking and they took Rhino's advice.

They snapped Oliver up and he starred in the Conference side's campaign last season and was called into the England semi-professional side for their game against Holland and has earned himself a transfer to Yeovil.

Oliver said: "It's nice to prove a point. In his Adams' opinion I wasn't good enough. I've got nothing against that but I'm very happy that someone else thinks I am good enough. It is a great opportunity for me. When I was told I wasn't good enough it made me strive to improve."
