RONNIE Moore has taken a swipe at Wanderers' latest signing Kevin Betsy after the midfielder rejected his club Oldham to sign for Wycombe.

The snubbed Oldham boss has accused the player of lacking ambition after Betsy took a pay-cut and stepped down a division in class to pen a two year deal with Wanderers.

Betsy joined Wycombe despite being offered another deal by the League One Latics.

Moore told the Oldham Evening Chronicle that Betsy's decision to leave Boundary Park to join a club in the bottom division, "showed the player's ambition or lack of it".

And the snubbed boss could not hide his disappointment at missing out on the 27-year-old talent Oldham signed from Barnsley last year and who went on to make 44 apperances for the League One club.

Moore said: "Kevin could have been a wow here and has undoubtedly a lot of ability.

"He had won over the fans and looked to have a good future with us, but in his wisdom he's decided to go to Wycombe."

But Blues assistant boss Steve Brown reckons Betsy could make Moore eat his words.

Brown told Midweek: "I would like to think that in the next 12 months we will have pushed on and achieved what we expect to achieve.

"Sometimes as a player you have to take a backward step to move forward but I would like to think that in a year's time it will be proved that Kevin's decision was not one of a lack of ambition.

"We've made some good signings amd added to what we felt was a good team before and we are very confident about next season.

"Ronnie Moore is obviously disappointed that Kevin has decided to come here and I would expect him to be upset because he is losing a good player.

"We're just delighted that we've got someone of Kevin's quality for the next two years and hopefully longer."

Besty, who still has a house in Woking, was bowled over by Wanderers boss John Gorman and his ambitions for Wycombe.

Gorman, the former England assistant manager, has rebuilt his nearly men from last season with five major signings as he targets promotion in his first full season at the helm.

He has agreed terms with ex-Premiership duo Tommy Mooney and Stefan Oakes as well as plucking two of the Conferences' brightest stars in striker Charlie Griffin and defender Will Antwi.

The quintet have raised expectation levels at Adams Park to a new level ahead of the fixtures coming out on June 23 with many fans now predicting automatic promotion for the Wanderers, who finished tenth last term.
