KEVIN Betsy scored twice in a minute to set Blues on their way to a comfortable win.

He got the first two of Wycombe's magnificent seven as the Blues brushed aside the challenge of the Nationwide Conference South side and hammered out a warning to their League Two rivals.

Blues finished on seven but it could have been ten as Wycombe's movement and passing was too hot for the non-leaguers.

Wanderers' last visit to the Camrose resulted in one of the darkest days in the club's history when Stoke's bunch of part-timers knocked them out of the FA Cup in a penalty shootout.

But if that night eight years ago was depressing, this was hugely encouraging.

Far too often Wanderers teams in the past have struggled to make their class show in pre-season but this time the attitude was spot on and the ability was a cut above.

Betsy, who played in the Premiership at Fulham, set the ball rolling after eight minutes, tucking the ball in after the lively Ikechi Anya cut the ball back.

Sixty seconds later Betsy was at it again as Blues demonstrated a new side of their game.

Everyone knows how good they are at keeping the ball but they also proved how adept they can be at route-one football.

Danny Senda cleared his lines in defence, Tommy Mooney flicked it on and Betsy strode on to clip the ball past the keeper.

The outstanding Betsy was in the thick of it again on 29 minutes when he laid on Wycombe's third.

Surrounded by defenders, he dragged the ball back onto his other foot before threading it through to Jonny Dixon who lifted the ball over keeper Liam Castle.

It was plain sailing. Wycombe knew it and got punished.

Rob Lee, who had enjoyed a stunning opening half hour dictating the play from his position in front of the back four, was dispossessed by Sergio Torres and Mark Peters lashed the ball into the back of Steve Williams' net from 25 yards.

But, within a minute, Wycombe restored their three-goal lead as Mooney curled in a free kick.

It could have been more before half time. Anya had a case for a penalty turned down and was foiled by the keeper in a one-versus-one confrontation while Dixon saw his venomous shot parried to safety.

Blues made seven changes at half time but the goal rush continued with two of the subs combining for the fifth as Stefan Oakes' flag kick was powered in by Roger Johnson.

Wanderers did not add to that 51st minute goal until the 72nd minute when Nathan Tyson added his name to the scoresheet.

He profited from a loose ball after Ian Stonebridge had been tackled on the edge of the of the box and gave the keeper no chance with his low shot to make it six.

Wanderers should have had a seventh when Oakes turned in Anya's cross but his effort was controversially ruled offside.

After being denied a goal at the right end, Blues immediately conceded at the other as Rocky Baptiste cut the deficit with five minutes remaining.

But there was still time for Stonebridge to put the gloss on Wanderers' show with a superb seventh on 88 minutes.

He pulled the ball out from beneath his feet to score with a precise placed shot from 20 yards to complete a good night's work.
