WANDERERS boss John Gorman saw Czech Under 21 international striker Petr Mikolanda score for West Ham reserves on Wednesday night as he continues to hunt a replacement for Nathan Tyson should the Blues hot-shot be snapped up when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Gorman saw the young Hammer hit the back on the net from close range in West Ham's 4-0 win and will continue to run the rule over a player West Ham are happy to let out on loan.

Mikolanda also went close with another effort which flew just wide of the post after pulling the trigger from 20 yards.

Gorman needs to have another look though because the young Ipswich side were not much of a match for a Hammers team who included eight of the players which won last season's play-off final against Preston North End.

Mikolanda is just one of a number of strikers Gorman is looking at as he prepares for a possible second half of the season without Tyson.

Gorman is desperate to keep Tyson at the club but wants to be prepared if Tyson should be sold in the transfer window.

He said: "The one thing we don't want is to lose Nathan but if we do lose him we want to be ready."

Meanwhile Wanderers have also had a couple of lads in from Charlton Athletic training with them last week and will be having two more down from Newcastle United this week.

The idea is to give the Premiership youngsters experience of life in the lower leagues should their managers want to loan them out. It is also an example of Wanderers' excellent relationship with the top flight clubs and Gorman knows that relationship could come in handy when it is his turn to want to bring players in on loan or permanently.
