JOE Burnell reckons it is only a matter of time before he breaks his Wanderers goalscoring duck.

The all-action midfielder has not scored since signing from Bristol City and before that, only scored once in 131 appearances for his hometown club Bristol City.

But the 24-year-old twice went close to breaking his scoring duck in the 3-3 draw at Stockport County and believes his first Wycombe goal is just around the corner.

He said: "I dragged a couple just wide. The fact that I had a couple of chances is just another sign of how well we are playing as a team.

"With Rob Lee and Stefan Oakes there, I have got the licence to go forward which I love because I have got the engine to get past players.

"I got into the box a few times and I know I need to chip in with some goals.

"I am happy with the rest of my game and I know if I could get goals into my game I would be recognised as a better player."

Burnell was disappointed not to break his duck at Edgeley Park and bring home three points.

He said: "We were gutted not to win. We got ourselves into a winning position three times and couldn't take advantage. It's been the story of our season so far.

"Everyone is disappointed that we haven't got as many points as we feel we've deserved but I don't think we are far away from being a very successful team.

"We are still unbeaten and I don't think the results have been a true reflection of the games. We don't want any more draws and that is our aim now. We should have had more goals and the only thing we are guilty of is not punishing teams.

"We are playing such good football and that makes it really frustrating for us.

"I love playing for Wycombe. I am not happy with the division we are in and some of the teams we play against but I love playing for the club."
