CAESAR the Seahorse was the leader of the pack at the recent National Society for Epilepsy's annual sponsored fun run.

The giant seahorse, who is the charity's mascot, joined scores of runners, joggers and walkers, to take part in the event at the NSE's headquarters in Chesham Road, Chalfont St Peter, on Sunday, September 11. The five kilometre run along the footpaths and fields of the grounds was sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest, Commercial Banking.

Guy Birkby, director of commercial banking at RBS/NatWest, said: "As the leading commercial bank in the Chiltern area, it is important for us to play a full part in the community in which we operate.

"We were therefore delighted to be involved with the NSE fun run for the second year."

It was christened the Seahorse 5K Fun Run in honour of Caesar.

The NSE adopted the seahorse as its fundraising emblem because of its resemblance to the hippocampus, the seahorse shaped part of the brain where epilepsy often originates hippocampus is Latin for seahorse.

The event offered something for everyone.

Winners in each age group, including adults and under 16s, were awar-ded trophies and every finisher got their own medal as a souvenir of their achievement.
