STUART Abbott called on his Wasps teammates to stand up and be counted following their European shocker.

The club are all-but out of this year's competition after just three pool games but the Wasps centre said they had to show the fans and themselves just how much they are hurting.

Abbott said: "It was very frustrating but we'll stick together.

"We're probably out but we're looking to put in a much better performance.

"We've had video analysis and an honesty session but I don't think what went wrong requires major surgery.

"This season, we haven't really been at the top of or game but it's up to us to change that.

"I can't put my finger on why it hasn't happened. We're training well and it's a matter of taking what we're doing in training out onto the pitch.

"We haven't lost at home away, we perhaps need to play more territorially and play a bit less rugby.

"We didn't do that in the last couple of games."

Wasps have the chance to seek revenge immediately for their 21-13 defeat at Llanelli. They entertain Llanelli on Sunday (ko 3pm) and Abbott reckons the Welsh side will rightly be expecting backlash.

He said: "It's a great opportunity for us to go out there and really have a crack at them."

And Abbott is ready to unleash his own frustration on Llanelli after he was substituted for Mark van Gisbergen during Sunday's game at Stradey Park.

The England player was angry at seeing his number held up but wants to get vent his emotions in the right way this weekend.

He said: "It was frustrating but then you realise how frustrating it must have been for Gis on the bench."

This weekend will see van Gisbergen start against Llanelli with Ayoola Erinle rested following ankle problems.

That will see Josh Lewsey move to centre to partner Abbott.

In the front row, Ali McKenzie could be given a start, with Tim Payne switched to tighthead prop.

Raphael Ibanez is set to be given another chance following his poor throw-ins at the line-out on Sunday.

Simon Shaw will miss out following a neck injury, George Skivington deputising, and the back row will see Tom Rees return, with Joe Worsley picking up a knee injury.

Director of rugby Ian McGeechan said: "Our aim is to show the rugby of which we are capable.

"Our recent European performances are not acceptable and everyone in the team recognises that.

"This weekend is about focussing on turning in a quality performance."
