WANDERERS face a punishing schedule of four matches in eight days over Christmas but for striker Charlie Griffin the games can't come fast enough.

The in-form marksman has scored six times in six starts since recovering from a horrific head injury and he is licking his lips at the prospect of playing a game every two days on average.

He said: "The matches can't come quickly enough for me. I've got six goals now, I'm pleased with that but I want more."

Griffin notched up his half dozen with a midweek brace as Wanderers put up a sterling fight in the LDV Vans Trophy on Tuesday in a match which ended in a 3-2 defeat to higher league Walsall.

And even though new-dad Griffin will be forced to leave his family behind on Christmas Day, Griffin says he will be happy if he can be Tommy Mooney's Father Christmas on Boxing Day.

Moons laid on Griffin's second at Walsall and Griffin thinks it's time he paid his strike partner back by laying on a Boxing Day goal for him down at Torquay.

He said: "Tommy did fantastically for me to set up my goal at Walsall. He is everything you want in your strike partner. I can't ask for anything better at the minute. He's got great experience and I am learning from that. I just hope to be able to repay him by laying on some goals and scoring some myself."
