BLUES boss John Gorman has backed Jermaine Easter to break his goal drought and insists that he will be a big hit at Adams Park.

Gorman splashed £80,000 on him as he won a three-team battle to prise him away from Stockport County.

But the 24-year-old has yet to hit the back of the net in six appearances either as a starter or a substitute for his new club.

But Gorman is pleading for patience and insists he will represent £80,000 well-spent.

He said: "Robbie Keane took eight games to score his first goals for Spurs and people were saying he was a mistake but look at him now.

"Rome was not built in a day. It takes time. I am not worried about Jermaine. All he needs is a goal and then we will see what he is all about.

"You could see at Cheltenham his hold up play was excellent. He deserves to score and he just needs a wee tap in to get him going."

Easter is not the only striker to struggle to make an instant impression.

Thierry Henry also took time to settle in at Arsenal. He didn't score in his first eight and then only scored two goals in his first 17 appearances.

His Highbury strike partner Dennis Berrgkamp also needed time. He scored in his eighth appearance for the Gunners.

Will Antwi won the Crossbar Challenge at Wycombe Wanderers and almost picked up another injury.

The defender, who has been out with a groin injury all season, was the only Wanderer to hit the crossbar from the halfway line in the challenge set up by Sky Sports Soccer AM show.

Skipper Roger Johnson said: "He almost got injured again when we all jumped on."

New signing Josh Mulvaney scored Blues winner as they endeded Millwall's unbeaten home record in the reserves Pontins League with a 2-1 victory.

The former Southampton England U17 international converted Charlie Griffin's cross after coming on as a substitute. Stefan Oakes scored Wycombe's other goal.
