A RECORD attendance at Adams Park saw Charlton beat Arsenal 2-1 to win the FA Women's Premier League Cup Final last Sunday.

A total of 3,506 watched Eni Akulo score twice as Charlton gained revenge for last year's defeat at the hands of the Gunners.

Arsenal had most of the chances with Kelly White, Rachel Yankey, Julie Fleeting and Jayne Ludlow all going close.

But it was Charlton who took the lead on 28 minutes when 19-year-old Aluko lobbed Emma Byrne to score.

Arsenal pressed for an equaliser but it was Charlton who scored just before the break. Sarah-Jane Snare caught Alex Scott dilly-dallying on the ball before sending Akulo clear. With just Byrne to beat, the England international shot across the Arsenal keeper and just inside the far post.

Charlton could have made the game safe in the second half but, though Fleeting pulled one back for Arsenal on 76 minutes, they had done enough to claim the cup.
