WANDERERS boss John Gorman is hoping the presence of 1,000 schoolchildren will spur Blues to victory over Torquay United tomorrow after the atmosphere at Adams Park was officially declared as being quieter than a church.

He is hoping the youngsters will raise the roof and set an example to the rest of the Blues fans, who he has criticised for being too quiet.

Last week, we sent Free Press reporter Nic Brunetti to the ground armed with a decibel meter for Blues' 2-0 win over Shrewsbury. He discovered that at their loudest Blues fans make more noise than a chainsaw but at their quietest they make less noise than the congregation at Holy Trinity Church.

But the gaffer is expecting a massive improvement tomorrow thanks to the kids who are being let in for free.

They have been given complimentary tickets by Network Rail for tomorrow's match and they will be spread all around the ground including the Dreams Stand which is normally reserved for away fans.

Gorman said: "I'm really looking forward to it. I love it when all the kids are in because they make so much noise. They sing and shout all the way through the games. They create such a good atmosphere and that's just what the team needs right now."

The second-placed Blues are bidding for their third successive home win as they look to overhaul Carlisle United who lead the table on goal difference.

Wycombe look set to name an unchanged team for the clash with Kevin Betsy serving the final game of his two-game suspension and midfielders Sergio Torres and Joe Burnell still ruled out through injury.

Blues trained on the Adams Park pitch yesterday to get them used to the surface which has become bobbly with the reserves, Wasps and the first team all using it for matches.

Gorman said: "The pitch does not help our game at the moment so I want the lads to get used to what they will be facing."

Torquay, managed by former Wanderer John Cornforth, are scrapping for their Football League lives at the wrong end of the table.

They gave Blues a Boxing Day fright when the sides drew 2-2 in Devon and Gorman has warned his men to underestimate them at their peril.

He said: "They were in the division above last season and a lot of their players are the same. They are fighting for their lives and will make it difficult for us but we are expected to win and I expect us to win."

Blues had to come from 2-0 down and needed a late own goal to salvage a draw in Devon but Gorman doesn't want that to enter their heads.

He has cut his own tape of the match showing the numerous chances that Wycombe created during that game in a bid to build their confidence.
