WANDERERS boss Gary Waddock looks set to give Saturday’s match-winners chance to shine again tonight as Blues visit fellow strugglers Tranmere Rovers in another relegation six-pointer.

Waddock looks set to stick with the same team that overwhelmed Hartlepool on Saturday in one of the most one-sided 2-0 wins you will ever see for another huge game.

Saturday’s success breathed new life into Blues’ faint survival hopes and victory at Prenton Park would enhance hopes of an Houdini-like escape.

With Hartlepool and Southend United both facing possible points deductions for fielding a suspended player and so far failing to meet a tax bill respectively, Blues could yet still receive a double helping hand in their bid to stay up.

But with seven points to claw back and five matches left, Blues can afford no slips as they face a side two places and six points above them.

Waddock said: “It is massive game for us and a massive game for them and I am feeling confident going into it.

“They are at home, their fans will see this as a game they should win so all the pressure is on them.

“All we have to do is go up there and perform like we did on Saturday and if we do that we have got every chance of winning the game.”

He looks likely to stick with the team that outplayed Hartlepool at the weekend.

Striker Alex Revell and midfielder Lewis Montrose made the most of their rare starts with energetic performances as Wycombe bossed the game from start to finish.

While, at the back, Lewis Hunt excelled when he came on for crocked skipper Adam Hinshelwood, who suffered a recurrence of his persistent knee injury and is out tonight.

Despite playing out of position as a centre half and despite only having one day’s training under his belt having recovered from a groin injury, right back Hunt produced a stand out performance.

Waddock said: “He was only on the bench as cover and I thought he would only last for maybe 15 minutes if we needed him. But he came on after about a quarter of an hour and did really well. You wouldn’t have known he has never played there before.”

He helped Blues to their first clean sheet in six games and their first win in nine attempts and even though Wanderers have recalled centre half Luke Oliver early from his loan at Bradford City, Waddock looks set to reward Saturday’s stars with another outing.

He said: “They all did well. It was a team performance and it would be harsh to take anyone out.”

Tranmere, who lost 2-1 at Walsall on Saturday, have injury worries over two players.

Midfielder Ash Taylor was substituted with a head wound while striker Craig Curran aggravated a groin injury. But Wycombe-born midfielder Paul McLaren and loanee Andy Robinson are available after completing suspensions.
