DAN Ward-Smith says defeat at Worcester on Saturday would be ‘devastating’ for Wasps.

The men in black and gold have a wretched record there, with Tony Hanks and Shaun Edwards both waiting for their first win at Sixways.

Ward-Smith said: “They’re fighting for their lives at the bottom and we’re fighting for our lives to get into the top four.

“It’s a huge game. It will be a massive challenge but all the hard work we’ve done over the last two weeks will be for nothing if we lose this game.

“We’ve not had much success against some of the lower sides, but we can’t afford another slip up like that. It would be devastating for us.”

And, unlike many at Wasps, Ward-Smith does have some happy memories there.

He said: “I’ve won at Worcester a few times.

“They are very forward oriented. They pride themselves on their set piece.

“Their scrum and line out are key areas for them and we’re going to have be very accurate up front to get some points out of this game.”
