WASPS are training their eyes on Cardiff Blues in a bid to salvage their season.

They host the Welshmen in the semi-finals of the Amlin Challenge Cup at Adams Park on Saturday evening, just seven days after their Guinness Premiership hopes were as good as extinguished by Bath.

Captain Tom Rees said: “The mark of a good side is that if you have a disappointment like that you need to bounce straight back from it.

“This has just added more to next weekend, as if it wasn’t big enough for us already.”

Wasps will need to be much, much better though, after their run of good form came to a shuddering stop at Twickenham.

Rees said: “We’ve got to get ourselves together because we haven’t become a bad side overnight.

“The frustration comes from the fact that we know that wasn’t up to our standards.

“We need to address that and give Cardiff a real tough time.”

Saturday will be Wasps’ final game of the season at Adams Park, and the final time Danny Cipriani and Paul Sackey play in Wycombe before moving overseas.

Director of rugby Tony Hanks says it’s a chance to scrub out memories of Bath and leave a lasting impression .

He said: “Not many teams in our position get the chance to turn round seven days later and play for something.

“We’ve got that opportunity and we’ve got the opportunity to show all the Wasps supporters what we’re about.

“We have got that grit and determination, we do bounce back and it does mean a lot to us.”
