ALAN Bennett is back at Wycombe Wanderers and in contention for a place in the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Leyton Orient.

The on-loan Brentford centre back has made a speedy return since damaging his ankle ligaments in training on Good Friday and his return is a major boost to Blues as they enter their do-or-die last two games.

Bennett was sent back to Brentford after the injury and Blues didn’t expect to see him again.

But he trained with the Bees on Monday and Tuesday and they were happy to let him return to Adams Park for training on Thursday.

Wycombe boss Gary Waddock is delighted to have him back in the fold.

He said: “I spoke to Benno on Tuesday and everything went well for him, so he’s back in.

“He did extremely well when he was here before his injury. He’s a good player and it’s good to have him back around the squad.

“Whether he goes straight in or he’s on the bench I don't know yet. I’ll have to have a look at his fitness first."

"It gives us more cover. Luke (Oliver) has come back from Bradford and he's been on the bench. Now we’ve got Benno back as well it really does give us a lot of cover there.”
