TOM Ingram scorched to his second double podium of the Ginetta Junior Championship at the weekend to reach the mid-season break just nine points off the overall lead.

The Wycombe speedster finished third and second at Croft and it might have been even better had qualifying not been hampered by traffic and an accident.

However, two podiums was a fine response to his previous race at Oulton, when driver-error cost the 16-year-old valuable points.

He said: “I was just aiming to claw back some ground after Oulton. I had given away a stupid number of points there, which put me on the back foot going into Croft.”

“But I was really pleased with the weekend overall – two podiums and decent points. I was really, really happy with that.

“It’s a shame we’re not leading going into the mid-season break, but we’re up there and feeling confident. Now we just need to get some more funding together to be able to make Snetterton, and then aim for more podiums over the second half of the season – and more wins.”
