JON-PAUL Pittman scored twice for Wycombe Wanderers before having to limp off injured as Blues booked their place in the final of the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup last night.

The pacy striker netted two in three minutes at the start of the second half as Wanderers beat Chesham United 4-1 in the semi-final.

But minutes from the end he had to be taken off, apparently holding his ribs as he made his way back to the dressing room.

That was the only black mark for Wycombe last night as full-back Andy Sandell scored a stunning goal and played for the full 90 minutes as he stepped up his recovery from injury.

He opened the scoring after just six minutes when he took the ball on his chest just inside the Chesham half, weaved his way past a couple of defenders before smashing home from 25 yards with his unfavoured right foot.

Blues dominated possession early on but were kept at bay by Chesham, who were denied a cast iron penalty when former Newcastle United striker Paul Robinson was felled by Sandell.

The Generals deservedly equalised on the half hour through the game’s second brilliant goal when Steve Wales thundered home a free-kick via the upright.

But Chesham fell apart in the second half with Pittman doing the damage just after the break. Firstly he reacted first to fire home the rebound when goalkeeper Shane Gore couldn’t hold Matt McClure’s shot, then minutes later he stabbed home from a corner that had been awarded when Sandell had a header deflected away.

Gore robbed Pittman of a hat-trick with two excellent saves but he had no chance with the fourth, with youngster Josh Scowen netting the goal his superb all-round display deserved.
