GARY Waddock has urged Blues fans to get behind the side against Stockport tomorrow, saying they can play a “massive role”.

The Wanderers manager praised the support from the travelling Blues who made successive long journeys to Shrewsbury and Morecambe to cheer on their side.

Waddock’s message to the fans is simple: “Just get behind the team and create the atmosphere because if you do, it will make Adams Park a difficult place for any team to come. Create the atmosphere you have been away from home.”

He added: “They can have a massive role from now until the end of the season. The away fans, with their vocal support and the atmosphere they have created, have been great for us. They don’t realise how important it is for the players.

“If we can perform I’m sure the atmosphere will be fantastic.”

Wanderers have designated the Stockport game as a special Community Day and had sold over 7,000 tickets as we went to press.

But Waddock says fans expecting a win against the side 92nd in the Football League will need to be patient.

Their 2-1 win over Southend United last time out was only their third victory in the 18 matches they have played in 2011 but Waddock says it won’t be a walk in the park.

He said: “They are fighting for their lives. They will want to put on a performance for themselves. They had a good result last week and will be looking to back that up.

“We’d like to back things up with a win at home to make the Morecambe and Shrewsbury results even better.

“But they will play with no fear. They will come to express themselves, they are off a good result last weekend so this will be as difficult as any other game. There’s no easy game in this division and this will be very difficult for us.”

Stockport prop up League Two, having used 37 players this season in a so far futile bid to find the winning formula.

The Hatters have conceded three or more goals on 15 occasions and George Donnelly still leads the goalscoring charts with eight despite moving to Fleetwood Town in early January.

One player Wycombe will have to watch is Greg Tansey, who has scored seven times from midfield and won the League Two Player of the Month award earlier this season.
