A young boxer from Wycombe will be starring at the GB Championships on December 7 as she prepares to face Scotland in Sheffield.

Raven Chapman is climbing the ranks of the boxing world and she said she is looking forward to finishing the year on a positive note.

She said: “2017 has been a mix of ups and downs for me but the ups have definitely outweighed the downs as I got selected onto the GB Womens Development Programme in April this year, so the training and opportunities I have now received have been amazing.

“I’m boxing on December 7 at the GB Championships against Scotland in Sheffield and I’ll be representing GB. I’m really looking forward to it as I have trained hard and I’m looking to end the year on a high going into the new year where it is likely we will have some tournaments early on.”

Looking further ahead, it is clear what target Chapman has her eyes set on.

She added: “I’m aiming for Tokyo 2020 as my weight has been added as an Olympic weight - we are at the start of the four year cycle for the Olympics so I’m just trying to keep that focus and do my best in all the tournaments I go to.”
