Micklefield Judo Club were heavily represented at the British Judo Championships and they came away with three medals, including one gold.
On Saturday, Jamie Drew won his first two contests convincingly in the Cadet -46kg category to gain a place in the semi-final in a group of 19. Jamie unfortunately lost the semi-final contest so dropped down into the latter stage of the repechage where he claimed victory to win a bronze medal.
Amarah Peters then fought in the Pre Cadet -70kg category where she won 4 consecutive fights to win a gold medal and gained the title of British Pre Cadet Champion 2017.
Sam Elliott then fought in the Pre Cadet -55kg category wining his first contest convincingly. Sam was unfortunately overpowered in his second contest, which also dropped him into the repechage. Sam was then able to secure two consecutive wins, giving him the opportunity to fight for bronze.
In just nine seconds, Sam threw his opponent, winning the contest and securing himself a well deserved bronze medal in a group of 17.
The Pre Cadets will all be attending Regional England Development Squad training sessions in 2018.
