Tyrrell Hatton is now back after a recent wrist injury but missed the cut on his return to action.
Hatton played last week at The Honda Classic but missed the halfway cut at the tough PGA National in Florida, despite a strong showing over the first 14 holes of the course on the first two days.
However, holes 15, 16 and 17 make up the famous Bear Trap, and two of those holes are par threes played straight over water which is where Hatton’s round unravelled.
He said: “Not how I hoped my first PGA Tour start of 2018 would go. Tough conditions and just a couple of bad shots at the wrong time.
“+1 1-14, +5 15-18, looks like the bear trap destroyed me this year.”
Hatton’s next event is this week’s WGC Mexico Championship at the Chapultepec Golf Club just outside Mexico City.
The WGC’s, or World Golf Championships, are the next step down from winning one of golf’s four Majors and generally consists of the top 50 players in the world vying for the title.
Last year, Dustin Johnson lifted the title ahead of Tommy Fleetwood and Hatton will be hoping to emulate both players’ success with a strong showing this year.
