March 6, 2001 12:50: Bromley's U16 boys hockey team, currently fourth in the Mercian League, took on third-placed Old Loughtonians on Saturday.

Goalie Stephen Slatter brought off some good saves, while Andrew Temple and Sam Yates-Smith were making good attacks in a goal-less first half.

But with Bromley's key players Andrew Temple and Tim Warrington both getting injured, Old Loughts took their chance, scoring once from open play and twice from corners.

In contrast, the U16 girls had to play two consecutive league games in a programme disrupted by the adverse weather, demolished Tunbridge Wells 7-0.

Karissa Hopton netted a hat trick and the other goals came from Hannah Cole (two), and one each from Charis Hynds and Sarah Jones. Then the girls went after their next opponents as if there was no tomorrow. The unfortunate team on the receiving end was a somewhat shell-shocked Wimbledon in the Home Counties League.

Cole got four, Jones and Jessica Riley a pair, and further scores came from Charlotte O'Connell, Harriet Moore and Sarah Meaton completed an 11-goal rout.

The U14 girls, meeting Sevenoaks in the Kent League pulverising them by a gigantic 12-0. Hayley Ridout, Susie Rowe, Lauren Webb, Katie Welch, Lynsey Askew, Alice French and Kirsty Marshall shared the goals.
