A FLY-TIPPER was fined hundreds after he was caught red-handed on camera in Buckinghamshire.

Seanie Small, 23, of Whielden Lane in Amersham, first denied responsibility for dumping mixed waste in a woodland.

He eventually admitted his guilt as Bucks Council enforcement cameras had captured video evidence, and pleaded guilty to illegal dumping at High Wycombe Magistrates Court on Wednesday January 4 2023.

Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Environment Gareth Williams said: “Our surveillance cameras are just one of the tools at our disposal to catch fly-tippers in the act. You may think you will get away with it, but the chances are you won’t. If we catch you, we will do everything in our power to bring you to justice. Once again, our message is clear: Don’t fly-tip in Bucks!”

The illegal dumping happened on May 22 last year at Andrew Hill Lane in Hedgerley - an area regularly checked by the Council’s enforcement team for its popularity among fly-tippers.

The court heard how Mr Small had dumped waste such as insulation, wood, cardboard and sheeting.

The surveillance camera footage showed how the suspect’s pick-up van first arrived at the site in broad daylight, before a male was clearly seen throwing waste into the woodland.

Eventually the vehicle was tracked back to Mr Small at an Amersham address.

He refused to come in for an interview. When he was called on the phone number displayed on his car, he denied all allegations that he was Seanie Small, saying that “he doesn’t fly-tip”.

The court fined him £320, ordered him to pay £2,546 in clean-up and investigation costs plus a victim surcharge of £34.
