Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has revealed that he tries and dissects matches through ‘unemotional eyes’.

The newly appointed boss at Adams Park has taken charge of three games since returning from Colchester United in February, with those fixtures resulting in one victory, one draw, and one loss.

As things stand, Wanderers sit in seventh place and are just four points off the play-offs spots, but have a game in hand over Derby County, the team one place above them.

Speaking to the press ahead of Wanderers’ trip to Burton Albion this weekend, Bloomfield said: “There were bits I was pleased with from our performance the other night against Fleetwood, both defensively, in attack, and in and out of possession.

“But there are a few things that we want to keep improving on, win, lose, or draw.

“One thing I have been trying to do over the last five months is to try and look at the game with unemotional eyes.

"This is to try and analyse the games in the best way so we can get better.

“My mind is all about continual improvement and trying to be better every day.

“Of course, you need to get results but it’s about how you get them – that’s the most important thing.”

Wycombe’s trip to the Pirelli Stadium this weekend will be their first since the final day of last season.

A header from Sam Vokes and a last-gasp Jordan Obita tap-in gave Wanderers a 2-1 victory over the Brewers which confirmed their place in that campaign’s play-off spots.

Roughly 1,500 Chairboys fans made the trip up the M40 to enjoy what was a brilliant away day for the club.

Reflecting on last year's away win at Burton, Bloomfield said: “The memories of Burton away last season are still really fresh.

“We got good memories of the last time we were there, and we hope to create some more.

“It’s a place I’ve been to several times, and we know that this will be a tough game.

“So first and foremost, we need to make sure that training goes well tomorrow (March 10), because we have got certain plans we want to put in place.”

The reverse fixture between these two fixtures took place on the opening day of this season which resulted in a 3-0 home win for Wycombe at Adams Park.

David Wheeler, Anis Mehmeti, and Josh Scowen got the goals for the Chairboys.
