Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has praised his opposite manager as the Chairboys take on Charlton Athletic this weekend.

Dean Holden has overseen 17 matches since replacing Ben Garner in December, winning seven of those games.

His tenure has been somewhat mixed but with seven points gained from the last nine available, which includes an impressive 4-1 away victory at Morecambe, Bloomfield knows his side cannot take anything for granted when they travel to the Valley.

Charlton currently sit in 11th place on 48 points – four spots below and 12 points behind the Chairboys.

Bloomfield said: “Dean Holden is doing a good job there and he’s getting good results with them.

“They’re a good team as they pass the ball really well, but we’re excited with what we can bring to the Valley.

“They’ve had an inconsistent season but they have performed well in recent games.

“Charlton have got a lot of young players in their squad with pace and they like to dominate the ball so we know it’ll be a tough test.

“So we need to keep up with what with we’ve done in recent weeks.”

Prior to last season, Wycombe’s only triumph against the South East London side was in that famous 1-0 away victory during the 2006/07 League Cup.

However, the Chairboys are now unbeaten in their last three against the Addicks, winning twice.

But Bloomfield insists that form is not to be looked at.

He added: “Form is something that we need to take in isolation and in previous years, it’s all about the game coming up and how we approach it.

“We’re ready for Charlton and we’re happy with how we trained and we’re happy with how we performed against Barnsley last weekend too.

“But it’s also about results too and we need to be getting the results that match the performances."
