Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has confirmed two players have returned to first-team training following a lengthy injury absence.

Right-wing backs, Jason McCarthy and Jasper Pattenden are now ‘back on the grass’ but no time frame has been given in terms of their respective comebacks.

Pattenden has not featured since suffering an injured hamstring in the 2-0 home defeat against Morecambe in the FA Cup at the start of December, whilst McCarthy has only played once all season.

This was in the 2-1 away victory against Bristol Rovers in August where he came on as an 81st-minute substitute.

He was then an unused sub in Wanderers’ next two games against Sutton United and Northampton Town respectively, before sustaining a foot injury that required surgery.

Bloomfield said: “Jason McCarthy and Jasper Pattenden are both back in full training which I’m very pleased with.

“Jasper has done well for us this season whilst Jason has pretty much missed the entire season apart from a couple of squad selections.

“He is a huge player for us and a massive character but it’s great that he is back on the grass.

“Brandon, as we all know, is out for the season and Tjay is still struggling with his knee.

“We’re in good health, we never know when an injury might hit so we need to try and get everyone back up to speed as quickly as possible.

“Jasper has been out for just over a month but Jason has missed a lot of games so he needs a certain volume of training to make him available for selection.

“If we can arrange a practice match then we’ll certainly try.”
