Travellers who moved on to a playing field in West Wycombe last week left yesterday evening, according to the parish council.
West Wycombe Parish Council worked to clear rubbish left behind by the travellers after they left the Pedestal playing fields between 7 and 8.30pm.
The group set up camp on the field on Wednesday July 26 and reportedly told police they would move out on Sunday – however they failed to do so.
A statement released by the parish council said the chairman and clerk discovered rubbish and glass in the area, and they will now work to make sure the site is more secure.
The statement said: “We have also carried out a litter pick. The police checked the area and stated that no human faeces were present and we also could not find any, however the sun was setting.
“There is probably some dog mess left, although there did not appear to be that much on the site, we removed some, but with failing light we cannot guarantee this.
“There is a lot of glass in the area by the basketball hoop and the seat and we will deal with that in the morning, however it will be difficult to make sure it is all removed, we will do our very best.
“There are branches left on site and they will be chipped as soon as possible. We will arrange to smooth the two wooden stepping stone posts as soon as possible until we can replace them.
“The site has been secured and further work will be undertaken to make it more secure."
