A new café opened its doors in Marlow’s Higginson Park this morning, with mayor Chris Funnell cutting the ribbon.
The Resolute took over the former Costa Coffee site in the popular park after the chain came to the end of its lease and closed down, leaving residents with nowhere to enjoy a cup of coffee in the park.
The café serves freshly made pizza – whole and by the slice – as well hot and cold drinks including coffees, hot chocolate and smoothies, and pastries – and will branch out into hot doughnuts and ice cream.
Owners Nina and Karl Shaw hope their food and drinks offering will set them apart from Costa, having also applied for an alcohol licence to sell wine, beer and cider.
Speaking after the opening, Cllr Funnell said: “It’s fantastic. There is a huge benefit to having an independent back into the park.
“Just looking at the array of food they have and how popular it is already, it’s another key part of Marlow.
“It’s very important and I wish Nina and Karl the best of luck. It’s great.”
