Building work to transform the former Gerrards Cross Police Station into 34 homes is set to start next spring – after planning permission was granted in August.
The project moved forward a step yesterday evening (October 17) after South Bucks District Council’s (SBDC) cabinet approved the final business case for the redevelopment.
Work is set to start in April 2019 and will finish in May 2020, with 34 flats one and two-bedroom flats set to be built on site, 14 of which will be classed as affordable.
Speaking at the meeting, cabinet member for resources, councillor Barbara Gibbs, said: “I am particularly pleased we have got affordable housing in the right proportion to what we actually expect in the area.
“We expect other builders to do the same. It is very important to get enough affordable housing.”
SBDC bought the “dilapidated” police station, in Oxford Road, for £4.2 million more than a year ago, with the overall cost of the development predicted to be £8.3 million.
