Traffic lights at a busy junction that were knocked out in a car crash are set to be repaired this week - but drivers are being urged to be careful until then.

A BMW crashed into a traffic light column at the junction with London Road and Hammersley Lane in High Wycombe in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 26).

A man was injured in the crash and had to be released from the wreckage of the car by firefighters.

Since the crash, the traffic lights at the junction have not been working and Transport for Bucks (TfB) engineers are due to fix them on Wednesday, April 29.

Until then, drivers will have to treat it like an unmarked junction.

A spokesman for TfB said: "Transport for Buckinghamshire is aware of the crash that took place on London Road, High Wycombe in the early hours of Sunday morning (26th) which resulted in the traffic signals being put out of action.

"Engineers attended the site on the same day and have a full repair planned for Wednesday 29th April.

"Due to the damage, the traffic signals and pedestrian crossings are currently switched off and so, as per Rule 176 of the Highway Code, any road users making essential journeys in the area should treat the situation as an unmarked junction and proceed with great care."
