We’re back in High Wycombe town centre for Then and Now this week.
Six days after the UK entered the Second World War, this photo was taken (September 9, 1939) and shows the police station protected with sandbags on Queen Victoria Road.

This second photo, from August 1959, shows Corporation Street looking very different.
It was once home to a magnificent copper beech tree and a taxi rank although the road is now built up with flats and shops - including taxi offices.
