Joe Jacobson went off injured in the 34th minute against Tottenham on Monday night dealing a huge blow to Wanderers.

The left-back has been a pivotal player in the club’s rise into the Championship and with his ability on set pieces Gareth Ainsworth will hope Jacobson’s injury will not keep him out too long.

Ainsworth kept his cards close to his chest but admitted the defender is still in the “assessment phase” as it looks unlikely the defender will feature this weekend.

Wycombe have become dangerous from set-pieces through the delivery of Jacobson and a long-term injury will be a huge loss to Ainsworth’s side.

The Wycombe manager said: “He will be assessed this week and we will have to see.

“Obviously, he’s key for us so hopefully he’ll be back soon but we're still in the assessment phase with Joe [Jacobson].

There are another confirmed couple of knocks but Ainsworth is hoping to have as many players to pick from as possible.

He continued: “We have got one or two knocks and one or two missing from the selection.

“We are hoping for as full of a squad to choose from as possible.”

With one defender seemingly added to the absentee list in Jacobson, one will return as there are hopes that Ryan Tafazolli should be fit for the Brentford game.

Ainsworth continued: “We’ve got a couple of players that didn’t play in recent games against Brentford like Uche Ikpeazu and Ryan Tafazolli, hopefully, he should be back."
