Up to 20 percent of vaccine appointments have been missed daily as patients don't show up to Marlow Globe Park’s vaccine centre.

The pharmacist leading the centre, Olivier Picard, has urged residents to avoid booking appointments at other centres unless necessary.

If a change in appointment is needed then patients should let the Marlow vaccine centre know as early as possible.

The more notice you give when changing or cancelling your appointment, the more chance the appointment can be filled by someone else.

It has been confirmed that no vaccines have yet gone to waste but that missed appointments are slowing down the process.

Olivier Picard said: “In the last week alone, we have seen almost 20% of all appointments made with the Centre each day being missed.

“I don’t know if this is unique to Marlow, or the experience of all sites across the country, but it’s extremely frustrating to see and hear stories of people unable to get appointments when others are clearly getting multiple appointments and picking and choosing where to go.

“I have no problem with anyone changing clinic but if you do so, you must cancel the unwanted appointment."

“We have teams of volunteers and clinicians who are generously giving their time to help with this important national effort, waiting for people who don’t show up.”

“So if you or your loved ones have made a vaccination appointment please avoid booking somewhere else as well, because if you change your mind and don’t or can’t cancel your initial appointment, then it prevents others being vaccinated.”
