John Lewis bosses confirm future of High Wycombe store

John Lewis bosses have confirmed the immediate future of the High Wycombe store.

Earlier today, it was confirmed that John Lewiss will not reopen eight of its 42 John Lewis shops after the current lockdown period ends.

The eight shops identified for closure include four ‘At Home’ shops ins and four department stores.

This means 1465 staff are expected to be affected by the closures.

Bucks neighbourhood records zero coronavirus deaths in annual figures

Earlier this week, the BFP reported that only one Bucks neighbourhood didn't record a coronavirus death in the first annual death toll.

In the past year, there have been 977 people who have died due to Covid-19, according to data published by the Office for National Statistics.

The peak month for deaths was January when 300 were recorded.

Four areas recorded 30 or more deaths whilst nine neighbourhoods recorded over 20 deaths.

'Plague doctor' spotted chasing children around Bucks village

A person dressed up as a ‘plague doctor’ was spotted coming face to face with residents in a Bucks village earlier this week.

The ‘plague doctor’ has been seen walking around Flackwell Heath on both Blind Lane and the Straight Bit.

Currently, no criminal offences have been identified but the police have been alerted and are asking anyone to report any suspicious incidents online or through 101.

Speeding driver killed father-of-three after losing control of BMW on M40 - and then fled the scene

A boy racer speeding to visit his new sweetheart in London lost control of the car and killed a father-of-three before cowardly fleeing the scene on foot in a horrifying hit-and-run, a court heard earlier this week.

Thame labourer Pete Chamberlain was starting a night shift driving towards Heathrow on the M40 between junction 2 for Beaconsfield and 1a for the M25 when he killed in a catastrophic crash caused by the careless young driver.

Domino's Pizza set to open at former High Wycombe Barclays bank site

A new Domino’s Pizza is set to open on the site of a former bank in High Wycombe.

Plans for the pizza giant to convert the former Barclays bank in New Road, Cressex, into a Domino’s branch have been given the green light despite concerns from residents and a local councillor.
