The Wycombe Liberal Democrats had their own stall as party members joined the march in a campaign to end LGBTQ+ conversion therapy.

Local party member, Ryan Wilson, who recently stood in the May 2021 Bucks Council elections for his homeward of Terriers & Amersham Hill said: "One of the things our Wycombe Lib Dem team were campaigning on is to end LGBT+ conversion therapy, as per our national party policy.

"Many members of the public were surprised that conversion therapy is still legal.

"I think it’s really important that we send a clear message that Love is Love, and Wycombe Lib Dems are campaigning to ban conversion therapy for all LGBT+ people."

During the day guest speakers were being hosted at O'Neills with the party continuing into the night with an after-party for over 18s.

A number of local businesses including Hell Fire Caves, The Snug, Botanic, Tesco and Morrison's helped out by donating prizes to a raffle that was played out in the Irish pub.

The day after the event announced it had raised £902.20 for Mermaids, the event's chosen charity.

Mermaids is a British charity and advocacy organisation that supports young transgender people and their families whilst also providing inclusion and diversity training.

The High Wycombe Pride march posted on social media: "We’ve managed to raise £902.20 so far for Mermaids from sponsorship, fundraising on the day and through the online Facebook donation thread pinned to the top of the page.

"A wonderful charity that supports not only young transgender people but the parents of those young people.

"Thank you everyone who took part and donated.

"Every penny of that will be sent to mermaids in the coming weeks."
