A 57-year-old woman from Wales has died in a car crash on the M40 this morning (November 7).

The crash involved two cars, a white MG and a purple Mazda, and happened on the northbound carriageway between Junction 8A and Junction 9 at around 11pm.

The road was closed completely for a number of hours as an air ambulance attended the scene.

The woman from Bridgend, who was a passenger in the MG, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the MG, a man, suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.

The Mazda driver, another man suffered minor injuries and he is also still in hospital at this time. 

The woman’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Elizabeth Scurlock, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died as a result of this collision. On behalf of Thames Valley Police, I would like to offer my sincere condolences.

“The collision occurred at just before 11am on a busy stretch of the M40 in Buckinghamshire. I am making an appeal to anybody who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the collision or the moments leading up to it, to please contact police on 101, quoting reference number 43210503143.

“Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“The road was closed for many hours while emergency services were on the scene and our investigation commenced. I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while we dealt with what was a particularly difficult scene.”
