Lidl has begun construction work for its brand new store that will open in Marlow.

After their planning application was approved last July works have now started at the old Waitrose site on Chapel Street.

The German retailer is planning to extend the back of the building to increase the shop floorspace and create a new entrance on Liston Road.

Bucks Free Press:

Lidl is hoping to agree with Buckinghamshire Council to erect trolley bays in the Liston Road car park, similar to Waitrose previously.

There are proposed works that would see the existing crossing point raised so the surface is at the same level as the existing footpaths.

These works are subject to agreement with the council’s highways department.

The store will also remove the existing first and second floors and create a new first floor with a higher floor to ceiling height to be used as a warehouse with staff facilities.

Roof work will allow new lift shafts to enable goods to be moved between the store warehouse and the shop floor.

Opening hours will be between 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm Sunday.

Deliveries will arrive via a servicing area on the side of the building, which will be accessed from Liston Road.
