A WOMAN who accused a man of raping her as a youngster only for him to sexually abuse children in Aylesbury years later has finally seen him locked up.

David Moyle, of Hayes, was convicted of sexually abusing a girl in west London between 2004 and 2009 following a trial in January 2022.

The victim, who was believed to have been aged 11 around the time the sexual abuse started, reported Moyle’s crimes to police in 2014.

However, the decision was taken not to prosecute Moyle and it was only when other children from Bucks accused him of sexual abuse that police got back in touch with the first victim.

According to the Hillingdon Times, the offences against three victims that occurred in Aylesbury started in 2011 and lasted until 2017 -- three years after police were made aware of the West London woman's sexual abuse allegations.

Moyle, now 78, was jailed in 2019 for the offences he committed in Aylesbury and his sentence had come to an end by the time the 2022 trial came around.

Following the January trial, Moyle was convicted of two counts of rape, two counts of penetrative sex with a child, one count of sexual activity with a child and two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Reading Crown Court heard how Moyle sexually abused the girl at addresses in Hayes and Harrow.

Now, Moyle has another prison sentence to serve after a judge locked him up for 12 years at Reading Crown Court.

The victim took to the witness box at the sentencing hearing to read a statement on how Moyle’s abuse had affected her.

She said: “He stole my childhood and his actions affect me to this day.

“I have no doubt they will affect me for years to come.

“I’m grateful he will not be able to abuse other children in the same way he abused me.”

Gwawr Thomas, defending, asked Her Honour Recorder Drake to reduce her sentence as this trial had been hanging over Moyle’s head since 2019 when he was originally summoned.

Trial dates were set and subsequently cancelled for April 2020 and April 2021 but were pushed back because of the pandemic.

Sentencing, Recorder Drake said Moyle’s behaviour had affected all areas of the victim’s adult life and that his offending will have a “lasting effect” on her.

Moyle was handed a 12-year prison sentence by Recorder Drake for a range of sexual offences at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.
