Wycombe Wanderers cult hero Darius Charles was given a guard of honour and a standing ovation ahead of the Chairboys’ away fixture at AFC Wimbledon.

The 34-year-old was given a standing ovation during the 1-1 draw at Plough Lane on Easter Monday after he announced his retirement from the game at the start of this month.

He had three separate spells with the Dons where he played 86 times for the club, scoring two goals.

In between those times, he enjoyed a three-year stint with the Chairboys between 2018 and 2021, where he achieved promotion to the Championship in 2020, starting the play-off final win over Oxford United.

He will stay with Wimbledon as a coach.
