Burgers of Marlow are selling commemorative branded bags marking 80 years of being in the town.

The bags have the original logo on one side and the modern one on the other.

The family business, which began in 1942, has recently been put up for sale for £4.5 million.

Established by the Burger family, the store has been a staple for people in Marlow seeking baked goods.

The business began when Eric & Marie Burger moved to Marlow to open a ‘Continental Confectioners’.

Originating from the French speaking region of Neuchâtel in Switzerland, the Burger family name is pronounced “Bur-jer” with a soft ‘g’.

Dozens of residents spoke of their sadness about how the bakery will be sorely missed as generations of families visited the store.

Cathy Reevell said: "Sad... just loved going there, taken all my family and friends there over the years. We all liked it there, quality food and good service."

Jacqui Howkins said it's a great 'shame' after she bought her wedding cake from Burgers 54 years ago.

Maria Cheshire praised the "lovely family business, remembering it well" having grown up in Marlow.

Resident Jon Woodbridge praised the Burgers team for serving "great food".

He said: "The only real Bakery around! Bakery, patisserie and chocolatier, proper old school! Not like the mass made stuff that gets trucked in. Thanks to Racheal and her team plus the behind the scenes crew! A great shame, thanks for all the great food."

Lauretta Milligan said: "Too much competition with all these new delis opening up."

And Peter Brooks echoed this saying: "It's a sign of the times."

It's been dubbed as the "best shop ever" by Chris Wilson and Clare Morgan said Burgers "reminds her of nan".

It's clear to see the news has rocked people in the town sharing their sadness for it being listed for sale.
