An illegal driver has been banned from driving after being caught without a licence and insurance.

Florin-Cristian Dragusin, 18, of Slapton Road, Little Billington, Bedfordshire, was caught by police after speeding past in a blue Toyota Auris.

Thames Valley Police were investigating a seperate incident of three stolen caravans in Slapton Road when Dragusin went past them.

Officers attempted to stop Dragusin in the car but he continued driving.

He then turned into a side road and attempted to flee from the car.

He was then detained and interviewed at the roadside and was found to be disqualified and driving without insurance.

The vehicle was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act and was unclaimed from the recovered yard, while Dragusin was reported for the offences.

The incident happened at 8pm on September 5.

Dragusin pleaded guilty to a count each of driving whilst disqualified from holding or obtaining a licence and driving whilst uninsured in a hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 7.

Investigating officer PC Ryan Dollery of the Rural Crime Taskforce said: “This is another case where the Taskforce have been on proactive patrols and come across a motorist driving on a public road without the required documents.

“We will continue to take a zero tolerance approach and will deal with offenders robustly.”

He was fined a total of £199, further disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 17 months and given a community order to complete 140 hours of unpaid work.
