A BUCKINGHAMSHIRE primary school has retained its rating of 'Good' following a recent inspection by the education watchdog.

Denham Green E-ACT Primary Academy are celebrating their second successive “Good” judgement following a visit by an Ofsted inspection team last month.

The report recognised the strength of the education provided, with children “enthusiastic about their lessons and learning”.

Pastoral support is recognised as another strength, and Ofsted also comment on behaviour in school with children being “kind, honest and showing great empathy to each other”.

“Pupils love their school” is the conclusion that Ofsted inspectors came to following their two day inspection in Nightingale Way on October 4 and 5.

The report notes how Denham Green’s teachers understand how pupils of all ages learn best.

They have opportunities to recap and retrieve knowledge, which means they remember more over time commenting on it's “ambitious and engaging curriculum”.

"Leaders have set their behaviour expectations out clearly. Pupils follow the ‘Denham Green Way’ to behave in lessons and around the school. They are kind, honest and show great empathy to each other," inspectors said.

"Pupils’ manners are excellent. Low-level disruption in lessons happens at times. Teachers quickly refocus pupils back to learning. Bullying is rare. Leaders investigate any incident thoroughly."

Headteacher Cesare Nocera, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Ofsted recognise the great work that goes on at Denham Green Primary Academy. We are a close-knit and welcoming school community and the whole team is totally committed to providing the very best education for our children – to see that recognised by Ofsted is a very special thing.

"But even more special is the fact that our children say the “love” their school – they are who matter the most to us, and I’m incredibly proud of what we have all achieved over the past few years.”

The report did highlight improvements, including how teachers could have stronger subject knowledge to be able to teach their lessons.

Adding: "Sometimes teachers plan activities that do not link closely enough to what leaders want pupils to learn. Leaders know that there is still some work to do in setting out the curriculum in foundation subjects clearly and in making sure teachers have the knowledge to teach it."

However they noted how the "the curriculum has been deliberately designed to help children extend their vocabulary in each subject and children are using these new words in the right context."

Children with SEND learn the same curriculum as their classmates and there are clear processes to identify pupils who need extra support.

Ofsted also commended the school on being well led and effectively governed. The inspection team note that E-ACT knows the school well and provides a useful level of challenge and support.

National Director of Primary at E-ACT Martin Fitzwilliam said: “This truly is a glowing report and testament to the incredible hard work and commitment put in every day by Cesare and the whole Denham Green team.

"It’s clear that Denham Green is becoming the school of choice locally, and rightly so given the quality of education that is being provided. Huge congratulations to the whole team.”
