Wycombe Wanderers travel to Lincoln City this weekend in what will be their penultimate away game of 2022.

They go into the contest off the back of a brilliant 2-0 win over promotion-pushing Portsmouth on December 4, which was their second victory in three games where they have kept two clean sheets.

However, they will take on a Lincoln team that fell to their first defeat in four matches last week, as they lost 2-0 away at Shrewsbury.

So, here are some stats, facts, and more going into Saturday's game at Sincil Bank.

Pitch Inspection

With temperatures expected to reach -5°C when the Chairboys travel up to Lincolnshire, the Imps are taking every precaution possible to make sure that the game goes ahead.

In a statement that was published at 3pm on December 9, the club said: “City are taking precautions to protect the pitch ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Wycombe Wanderers.

“Frost covers have been in place since Wednesday which have protected the pitch against temperatures which dropped to -4°C.

“An EFL referee carried out an inspection on Friday afternoon and confirmed the pitch was playable.

Further actions are being taken to protect the pitch, with temperatures overnight on Friday not forecast to drop below -2°C which the covers have effectively guarded against already this week.

“The match referee will carry out an inspection at 10am on Saturday to ensure the pitch remains playable ahead of the fixture.”

Head-2-Head and recent record

The two clubs have played each other 21 times with all the previous meetings taking place in either the third or fourth tiers of English football.

Overall, Wycombe have won 11 of those matches, Lincoln six, with there being four draws.

Wanderers go into the match seven unbeaten against the Imps, with Lincoln’s last win coming in March 2009.

A second-half goal from Anthony Elding was all that separated the two sides as they won 1-0 at Sincil Bank.

However, despite having a good record against Lincoln, Wanderers’ last win at the stadium came in January 2011.

Andy Sandell got both goals in a 2-1 win – a match that Gareth Ainsworth played in.

Additionally, in the last five seasons when the two have played one another, Wycombe have either been promoted or reached a play-off final (2008/09, 2010/11, 2017/18, and 2019/20 all ended in promotion, whilst 2021/22 ended in a play-off final defeat).
