An affordable footwear store appears to have returned to a Bucks town just months after it was forced to close.

Shoe Emporium, a company that also has branches in Worcestershire and Oxfordshire, announced the closure of its Marlow shop at Number 71 on the town's High Street in July, five years after it opened in the area.

Now, signs have appeared in the window of the former Winser clothing store at Number 17 on Spittal Street in Marlow, declaring it "the new home of Shoe Emporium".

The business was forced to close earlier this year after coming to the end of its lease agreement when the building was handed over to a commercial tenant and co-owners Harras Naeem and Gary Walford were told they had five weeks to vacate the premises.

Speaking back in June, Harras said he suspected the building had been handed over to a "bigger company who had come in with a lot more money".

He added that he and Gary were hoping to move to a new location, ideally still within Marlow, but admitted that the short timeframe had made it "a bit tight".

Harras also praised the town's community, calling the support and friendliness of customers "the thing that I enjoy most" about the store.

"There have been around 100 people a day coming in and all saying the same thing - 'Why are you leaving?', 'It's so sad' and 'This is the only affordable store in Marlow'."

Alongside providing high-quality footwear, Shoe Emporium prides itself on being an economical retailer, especially compared to some of its competitors on the High Street.

"We've always kept our prices down and that's really helped to attract regular customers. I'm hopeful that we'll find somewhere else because this shop really is my life. It's what I've always done."

Shoe Emporium has been contacted for comment about the store relocation.
