A new Wetherspoon pub in a Buckinghamshire town will open its doors this summer, following months of speculation.

It has been nearly two years since popular pub chain JD Wetherspoon purchased the building at 3 Market Square in Marlow, with plans to transform it into a brand-new venue in the town.

Planning permission was acquired for the site in November 2022, with documents revealing that the pub would create between 50 and 60 new staff roles, but momentum stalled thereafter, and it has been all quiet on the former M&Co. shop front ever since.

Until now, that is, as the Free Press can reveal work is set to begin on the new venue midway through next month (March 2024) with a projected opening date at the end of July, although both timeframes are subject to change.

The new pub - which sparked debate among residents upon the news of its planned opening - will sit next to Marlow's Everyman Cinema, a large-scale chain that has nonetheless succeeded in integrating itself into the community since opening last September.

The Swan Hook will operate from 7am to midnight from Sunday to Thursday and 7am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

A beer garden will also be placed at the back of the pub and is set to close at 11pm daily.
