Gareth Ainsworth believes that he has got several players in his squad that are ‘better than’ the level of League One, following Wycombe’s 2-0 win over Plymouth.

Garath McCleary shone in the important win against the side from Devon as he scored a first-half brace, whilst Brandon Hanlan, Sam Vokes, and Daryl Horgan also starred in the victory.

At the back, David Stockdale was rarely tested but made some important catches from dangerous crosses, with Ryan Tafazolli, Joe Jacobson, Chris Forino, and Jason McCarthy also having a solid game.

The victory has put Wanderers back into the play-off places with three games remaining, and they are seven points off the automatic promotion places.

Speaking after the win over Plymouth, Ainsworth said: “Garath McCleary is better at this level and I’ve got some players that are better than this level.

"But when he [McCleary]performs like he did today, he is unstoppable and he is the first to credit his teammates that’s for sure.

“The hard work that Garath put in his pressing earned him the rewards for today but we can’t underestimate the power and strength that everyone put in today [April 15].

“Everyone played their part and everyone is a part of what we’re going on at the moment, and everyone is part of this huge jigsaw.

“They were brilliant and today is a fantastic day for Wycombe.

“With three games to go we’re still in the play-offs, and even though Sunderland got a late goal which is frustrating, I think they actually play Plymouth on Easter Monday and both teams can’t win, and we need to do our job against Wimbledon on the same day.”

McCleary has now scored 11 goals this season and was named the game’s man of the match.
