PHONES, a wallet and clothes were among the items stolen as thieves broke into six vehicles at a High Wycombe school.

Police said thieves forced their way into six vehicles parked at John Hampden Grammar School between 9pm and 10pm on Monday.

Investigating officer PC Chris Flowers said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the thefts to contact police.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area at around the time of the incident.”

An iPhone 5 was taken after the lock was forced on a Volkswagen Polo.

Thieves pinched a black Superdry jacket from a silver Ford Fiesta after the front driver’s side window was damaged.

The lock was forced on a Fiat Punto and a black iPhone was stolen from the glove box, while keys were swiped from a grey Audi A3.

Thieves also cracked the lock on the driver’s door of a grey Volkswagen Fox to grab a gym bag containing sports clothes.

Finally, the passenger window of a blue Audi A4 was smashed and a Samsung Galaxy S3, a wallet containing a small quantity of cash, debit and credit cards and a driving licence were stolen.

Thames Valley Police has issued the following crime prevention advice:

Look for car parks approved by the Park Mark scheme. Car parks approved within the scheme have been vetted by the police and have measures in place to create a safer environment.

Alternatively, park your car in an attended car park.

When leaving your car, close all windows and lock your car.

Don't leave anything on display in your vehicle.

Take all your personal possessions with you.

Remove sat nav holders and visible sat nav ring marks from windscreens.

Contact police on the 101 non-emergency enquiry line with any information about the thefts at John Hampden.

Alternatively, contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken and you will not go to court.

I was there for an 8:40pm kick off and spoke to the long arm of the law in the car park, they were investigating a fracas on a previous evening. Right place wrong time. As a school does it have CCTV?

School does have CCTV but whether it covers the whole car park, I am not sure. Some of the cameras are quite far back so I don't know whether they would be able to see the criminals. The real question is what all those cars were doing parked there? They couldn't have been teachers (Easter holidays) and if they were for astro-turf visitors then why weren't the criminal seen during the act, the car park is parallel to the astro turf. The real crime here was leaving so much valuable stuff in cars, who leaves an iphone 5 in unattended car?!

How on earth did no-one notice people breaking into their cars, the car park for the astro-turf is right next to the pitch! Regardless I look forward to the low-life scum being arrested and punished.

The lesson of course is DON'T BE FOOLISH ENOUGH TO LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR.
