AIR cadets from a squadron in Penn are celebrating another win making it a hat-trick- something that no other squadron has achieved in living memory.
The cadets from 871 (Penn) Sqn won the 2014 Wing Commanders Exercise held over the first May bank holiday weekend.
Their achievement was all the more special as it completes a hat-trick of wing competition titles with 871 Squadron already holding both the Wing Field Day and Overnight Exercise trophies.
Their victory was assured by winning outright six of the 19 team events over the weekend and was a fitting end to the cadet careers of their three seniors - George Allbut, Dan Hill and Sam Burgess – who are soon to leave the squadron due to their age.
CWO Allbut said: "What a brilliant weekend. It feels fantastic to win the Wing Exercise after also winning the other two major wing events. My team were superb."
871 (Penn) Squadron is recruiting new Cadets aged between 13 and 17 years. Anyone interested should contact the squadron on 01494 256 141 or via email at: 871@aircadets.org
