AWARD-WINNING novelist Tracy Chevalier addressed a mesmerised sell-out crowd of over 100 people during an exhibition celebrating the beauty of quilts last week.
The ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ author talked about her work and experiences at the Henley home of textile experts Lady Sew and Sew, which has a shop in Marlow.
Quilts feature strongly in the novel, with Maidenhead Quilters putting together a collection illustrating all the quilt patterns mentioned in the book.
And the author drew on some of the examples from the ‘Quilt Stories’ exhibit to illustrate her talk.
The bestseller about a young American girl’s efforts to help free slaves won numerous awards and sold over four million copies worldwide, being made into an Oscar nominated movie starring Colin Firth
