A small business from High Wycombe received a celebrity seal of approval after getting a mention on social media by retail magnate Theo Paphitis.

Annaliese Rivers, which specialises in bespoke bridal jewellery and wedding hair accessories, was one of six weekly winners to get a retweet by the former Dragons' Den star as part of his small business Sunday initiative on Twitter.

Each week, the former Dragon rewards six businesses that describe their businesses in one tweet, by retweeting it to his 506,000-plus followers, giving small businesses a boost in potential sales and followers.

Owner Annaliese Rivers, who has had her business profiled on the small business Sunday website as a result of the win, said: “I have been in business for less than a year and the re-tweet has given me and my business such a boost.

“It is great to have support from Theo because it’s hard trying to be seen in the online world.

“Theo has recognised my hard work and helped spread the word about what I do to his following, which has helped raise my online profile.”

Mr Paphitis, who is the chairman of Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas, Boux Avenue lingerie and joint owner of Red Letter Days, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK.

“My vision is that everyone who has ever won a #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings.

“The website and shop #SBS will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen, and I wish Annaliese every success.”

Small firms looking to enter should tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5pm and 7.30pm with #SBS. Six lucky companies are retweeted every Monday at 8 PM and then invited to enter their profile on the new website, attend the annual SBS networking event and take advantage of the networking opportunities offered as part of the win.
